I would say I have enjoyed married life so far. Cuddling each other to sleep, waking up beside him and being greeted by that cute, chubby face every morning are bliss to me.
Though it has been a while but beautiful memories for that fateful day stayed vivid in my mind and sometimes I will take a trip down the memory lane to savour those moments all over again.
It was not a perfect and smooth-sailing wedding - some things did not go as planned and bloopers did happen but overall, I think it was those "accidents" that made the day fun and memorable for everyone.
The excitement began when I went to do my manicure and pedicure with Ah Bu at Chinatown. Jasmine's appointment was scheduled at a later timing due to the space constraint in the shop.
Ah Bu's gel manicure and pedicure.
And mine. It was unconventional for brides to have black-painted nails for weddings but I fell in love with this design when I was browsing through the catalogue at the shop.
The first blooper happened when I was doing my manicure. My nails was applied with a chemical that would aid the gel nails to last for at least 2 weeks. However, I washed my hands after a toilet visit and was not aware that water would wash the chemical off until the manicurist found something wrong while he was working on the gel nails.
He was already 80% done when he discovered it and were told that the current situation could only see the nails through 4 to 5 days instead.
Alas, to my horror, the gel nail for my thumb was threatening to fall off at night while I was packing my barangs for the next day! Sis tried to salvage the situation by sticking it back using UHU glue.
Of all times, I had sore throat just the night before my wedding! It never failed to happen whenever I feel stressed out, even when I was working on events. Left without a choice, I gulped down spoonfuls and glasses of honey lime.
Like all brides-to-be, I had trouble falling asleep. I think I was still tossing and turning on my bed at 1am and did not really rest my body and eyes well.
The family woke up at 3plus for the preparation and MaMa was already at the house to help with the customary of hair combing for me.
Everyone had only a couple of hours of sleep. I remembered Ah Bu said she did not even need to brush her teeth cos she just did it not long ago and Lao Lao was mocking that Ah Bu did not close her mouth when she slept! HAHA.
Even Pooh Pooh was all ready and looking suave for my big day! He looked too cute in this outfit!
Must pose with him before the hair combing!
After the hair-combing, I was all ready for the arrival of Chris, the makeup artist! Surprisingly, I did not shed a tear while MaMa was combing my hair.
There you go! The makeup and hairdo was done in Lao3's room.
Shortly after, Raymond from AR arrived at the house and began the photo-taking.
Daddy, Ah Bu and MaMa were busy with the preparation of the offerings.
Gradually, the Jie Meis arrived one after another. I forgot who was the first to reach though.. I think it was Joo. Preparation for the gate-crashing began!
Ah Kim came early to help out too! Same goes for Ah Gu who brought Cousin Jianyu for the car door opening when the groom arrived.
The 2 Jasmines helping out with the ruffia strings nand pegs for the sabotage game later on.
This is the 'Spice' for the 酸甜苦辣 - wasabi paste on wasabi potato chips!
Celery to replace the 苦.
And I believe Joo and Ivy were preparing for the 甜 which was a mixture of concentrated syrup with honey!
Haiqi and Jasmine seemed happy with what they have prepared and were all set for the games! Videographer Jeremy and Zihao were at the kitchen catching the Jie Meis in action.
The Jie Meis were all ready to take on the Xiong Dis!
So was I! All nervous and excited to wait patiently in my room while Baby and his Xiong Dis were outside battling with my group of defenders.
There was still a little time left so I went out to join in the fun with my Jie Meis.
Daddy and Ah Bu putting on the bridal veil for me!
I recalled something hilarious happened just before the gang of guys arrived at my place. Perhaps it was due to the anxiety, I had stomachache and developed the urge to use the toilet. But I was all dressed up in my long gown! Ah Bu did not want me to poo in her room's toilet so I had to use the kitchen's nad she asked Lao2 and Lao3 to help me with my gown.
So I had both the sisters inside the toilet with me and 2 pairs of eyes staring right down at me, expecting me to complete my business. In the end, those stares made my stools froze and they decided to remain inside instead.
Happenings at Baby's house...
Getting ready...
A few Xiong Dis who live in the West area gathered at Jayven's place to wait for the taxi convoy.
Parents putting on the jacket for Baby.
Checking if he had got all ang baos ready for the gate-crashing before he left the house.
Our bridal car - ComfortDelGro taxi whose license plate carried the date 2805. The pair of Pooh Poohs was a gift was Lao3! Poor Pooh Poohs, they were stapled at their ears for aesthetic purposes.
The customised 'Married' plate!
Here came the groom and his gang! My heart was thumping hard when I heard the taxi convoy honking downstairs. Everyone was excited as well, so overwhelming that Ah Bu and the rest forgot to ask Cousin Jianyu to wait downstairs for the car door opening.
The ironic fact was, half of his Xiong Dis were married and none of them reminded the groom when it slipped his mind!
All excited in the lift.
This was when Baby realised he alighted the bridal car and opened the car door himself. It was made up with Cousin Jianyu opening the gate door for him after the gang completed the 酸甜苦辣 round.
The guys happily downing the special concoction that the Jie Meis prepared!
Baby quickly chiong in once the gate was opened!
Now, the first game began. Baby had to translate our wedding vow into Chinese in writing or the Xiong Dis and himself would suffer the pain of having the pegs pulled from their nose and ears.
Wei Liang was looking at the vow printed for them in English ans looking at his expression, it must be an uphill task for them.
Ready, Set....
And Pull!!!!
The onlookers were having fun watching and laughing at the guys too!
Baby could not even get passed the first sentence for the vow translation. Eventually, he gave up and pulled and pegs on his own accord. HAHA. I knew this game was going to get him!
Some sort of negotiation was going on between the 2 groups.
Next, it was Baby's turn to lose some hairs. The Jie Meis stick strips of sticky tapes on his hand in an attempt to let him experience some pain. However, I guess it did not work for him as he has very little hairs to begin with.
Barely visible pull-out hairs...
Last game was to have Baby to sing a song with the word '爱' in it. With every mention of the word, he needed to burst the balloons on the Xiong Dis' laps by sitting on it.
I believe it was a uper hilarious and enjoyable time for those Jie Meis who had fun sabotaging the guys.
Look how hard Baby tried and Jayven's funny expression! This game cost Ah Bu a stool as Baby and Victor broke one while trying their best effort to burst the stubborn balloon.
I think it explains Ah Bu's funny expression in this photo. Love this picture to bits!!!!
Yeah! It was time to distribute their hard-earned money!
Last hurdle - to sing my favourite song... Baby sang Xiao Wei instead of Pooh Pooh's song! Humph!
FINALLY! After waiting for so long in my room and hearing all those laughters outside... Baby has gained access to the room.
Look how happy I was!Unveiling the bride...
接新娘成功!
Praying for leaving my house for the photo shoot at Chinese Garden.
Thanking Ah Bu and Daddy for their 26 years of upbringing!
Daddy and Ah Bu bringing me downstairs.
Group photos taken downstairs and I did not know where I was then.
Walking me to the taxi convoy!
I was surprised at my ability to hold back the tears at this moment. In fact, it was Ah Bu who was on the verge of crying but I stopped her for fear I might cry as well.
Off we went to Chinese Garden! The traditional of throwing a fan out of the bridal car when I was leaving my parents' place.
The photo shoot started! Our taxi convoy attracted quite a few curious stares when we reached Chinese Garden.
I love the nostalgic feel of this photo!
I was trying to do a nice flip of my gown in front of so many of them!
Photographers asked all the Xiong Dis and Jie Meis to find a partner each for a group photo and everyone was so shy except for those who were already a couple.
Ta-dah! My favourite group photo!!!!
Baby with his Xiong Dis.
The bride with her Jie Meis.
Another group photos.
I thought the background colour went very well with our white nand red roses!
I threw the flower bouquet and guess who got it?
Yes, and she will be getting hitched next October!
Next, we adjourned to Baby's house for the tea ceremony.
Little Reuben came to open the car door for me!
Look at how suave he was - all decked in shirt and vest with his hair waxed. So adorable!
While on the way to Baby's house, I kept asking Lao2 to remind of some customaries just before stepping into the house by giving me Pooh Pooh's 暗号. I remembered Lao3 had to keep the UHU glue in her handbag to fix my gel nails.
Most relatives have arrived by the time we reached.
And the tea ceremony commenced.
A group and family photos!
A photo of our taxi convoy to keep as remembrance!
It was a pity that the license plate number was not visible in this one and only photo on the road.
Tea ceremony at my house.
Lao2's turn to offer tea to us!
Photo with Daddy and Ah Bu.
Family portrait.
With Ah Ma and MaMa.
Then the group photo!
It was in the afternoon that I realised my left eye was infected, probably due to the lack of sleep. There was green mucus on my eyes and I had to keep wiping it away with tissue. Another memorable incident to note down on this important day indeed.
Our bridal taxi sent us to Swissotel The Stamford for check-in and rest after leaving my house. Food was already prepared for us in our Stamford Crest Suite!
Of course, how can the meal be complete without desserts??
Our wedding cake!
Preparation for the evening banquet started as early as 4.30pm for me. We barely slept for 2 hours before we needed to get busy again.
Chris confirmed that my left eye was infected so he tried not to irritate it too much with the makeup. Fortunately, with the magical touch of makeup, it was not too obvious for the night.
Some relatives from my maternal side arrived earlier for the tea ceremony at the hotel. Instead of having them roaming aruond Raffles City, they came up to our suite to enjoy the beautiful view at Level 56.
Shortly after, Ah Bu, Daddy, Lao2, Lao3, Jeremy and Zihao arrived (with Fu Fu!!!) and makeup and hairdo styling began for Ah Bu. Jasmine and Hui Han also came earlier for their emcee preparation.
The wedding portrait placed at the reception area.
The beautiful and romantic stage decor!
I brought various falvours of C&E cookies for the guests to enjoy during the reception and they were all whooped up clean! Some friends and MaMa thought the cookies were provided by the hotel.
People helping out at the reception were all ready to receive guests for the evening!
A group photo but Lao3 seemed oblivious to the photo taking.
I think that was Haiqi's hand helping to hold my gown.
Oh, I love this sisters photo! Their white dress were rented from di Gio, upon my request.
Adorable Ah Teck came dressed up in a red bow, just like Fu Fu!
Guests were flipping through our photo albums.
Such a cute scene to see Little Reuben holding the hand of Little Adrianna. HAHA.
Jim Po arrived and she must have praised Ah Bu for looking so young and pretty. That's why she was smiling so sweetly!
My 2 lovely emees!
My 2 wonderful helpers for the evening. They have been helping me to hold the train of my gown so that I would not trip.
A group photo with Baby's family!
As more guests arrived, we were right outside getting ready for our first march-in. I was so nervous because I was going to be the focus of attention when we entered and I needed to ensure I would not trip over the long gown.
The door finally opened and we walked down the aisle to the song that Baby sang to me during our ROM - I Swear.
Lao2 actually missed my first march-in bcos she had to bring Ah Bu's aunty to the washroom :(
I simply love my hairdo for the night! Though the hair accessory used was slightly different from the pre-wedding photo shoot but it achieved the same effect I wanted.
I find the march-in route to the stage too short.. I love to bask in that kind of attention!
Cake-cutting ceremony!
We engaged Khairi and his partner for musical entertainment for the night. They started out singing on the stage and eventually moving tables to tables to warm up the crowd. We had specially dedicated the popular Hokkien song - 我问天 to our parents for their enjoyment and most guests were pretty surprised by this pair of Malay musicians!
Alas, they made a mistake and only stayed at Baby's parents' for that song. In the end, we made an arrangement for them to sing 一支小雨伞 (hokkien song) at my parents' table.
I must say they were really good at hyping up the atmosphere and getting guests to sing and dance with them!
After the 2nd dish, we made our way back to the suite for a change of gown and suit.
The banquet manager made a blunder when he gave a cue to Jasmine and Hui Han that both of us were ready at the door for the 2nd march-in. And so, they gave the speech to welcome us, only to be embarrassed by some awkward silence after realising we were not even at the door yet.
Hence, they paused for a while before repeating their speech again.
Posing for a photo just before the march-in. This time round, Khairi & partner were standing outside with us as we would be marching to their rendition of Bruno Mars - Marry You.
I think we walked a little too fast...
Champagne pouring followed by Yam Seng!
Time for our thank-you speech! After which, Baby gave another surprise speech for me, a story about bus drivers - a hot topic during that time.
I love my sexy back....
A not-so-surprise song 'Right Here Waiting' by Baby!
Nonetheless, I was listening attentiely to his rendition.
Khairi started to hype up the atmosphere with his various Chinese, English, Hokkien, Japanese and even Korean songs!
Khairi even got Daddy and Papa to sing along with him!
Everybody enjoyed themselves at our wedding dinner that day and this was what mattered to us! We dread those typical boring dinner whereby guests just came to give their blessings, eat and leave.
It was a memorable night which I wished could last longer!
I think pictures speak thousand words on how much the guests enjoy themselves! The money spent on the musical entertainment was well worth it!
The table to table drinking started but fortunately, the Xiong Dis did their very best to protect Baby from getting drunk by exchanging his glass of beer to plain water. Muahahaha!
I thought I should be the one dancing with Baby?!
We evenutally extended Khairi's service for another 45 mins to the end of the dinner so as not to dampen the happy spirits.
Time flew when everyone was enjoying. The dinner ended with hugs and kisses!
The night was still young for Baby's Ah Ma, Aunties, Uncles and cousins as they were infactuated by the KTV session, or rather, as quoted by Raymond the photographer - a singing carnival - that they continued at Teo Heng KTV till 5am!
The night had not ended for us either! The group of Xiong Dis and Jie Meis had long decided to make fun and tease us in our suite right after the dinner for Part 2! we adjourned upstairs and showed the suite to some of those who had yet to been there.
In fact, Baby was a little tipsy while wlaking to the suite as he was seen walking barefooted!
As our parents and siblings packed their stuff and got ready to leave for the night, the gang was also getting prepared to play games. Baby got away with it by faking to be in a drunken state, lying down on the couch, leaving me to answer those embarrassed questions!
Eventually, the gang left at around 1.30am. Once the door closed, Baby miraculously woke up from the couch, looking all alert and started to pack and clean up -_- I knew he was pretending all along which was why I was not too concerned when the rest thought he was dead drunk!
Luckily, we were left with some energy to clean and shower before jumping onto the bed to count our ang bao money! Guess what, half of my gel nails dropped off by the end of the night...
And the ang bao counting went all the way till 3am and I actually fell asleep half way through it!
Though fatigue devoured us for the entire day, but everything was worthwhile for the wonderful memories we got to keep till now...
